Steps to Becoming A Cadet

Thank you for your interest in Grizzly Youth Academy! We understand you may want to jump right into the application process; however, it is very important that you read this entire page thoroughly, and understand all eligibility requirements prior to applying.

*Any applicant that does not meet the basic eligibility requirements will not be considered.

Steps to Apply

Step 1: Check Eligibility

Applicant MUST:

  • Volunteer for the program (they cannot be forced by their parents/guardians, school, friends, etc.)
  • Be between the ages of 15 1/2-18 by the first day of the respective class they are applying to.
  • Be credit deficient at school or at-risk of dropping out.
  • Be a legal resident of California.
  • Be clear of felony charges and have no pending court proceedings.
  • Live within the Central California/Central Coast counties.

Step 2: Schedule an Orientation

Now that you’ve met the basic eligibility requirements, the student and guardian must attend an Orientation!

Completing an Orientation is MANDATORY.

Step 4: Communication

  • Ensure you are checking your emails on a weekly basis as our primary source of communication is email.
  • Do NOT use your school email.

Grizzly Youth Academy is a great choice for most at-risk students. However, not everyone is suited for this very physically demanding program.
